In the hectic world of the hospitality industry, a silent mental illness often goes unnoticed: eating disorders among restaurant workers. A 2020 survey revealed that 90 percent of the Not 9 to 5 community faced mental health or substance abuse challenges. Alarmingly, a global study from the following year found that 63 percent of hospitality professionals engaged in disordered eating behaviors.
