Safety Talk: Responding When a Colleague Is in Crisis
Our Safety Talk series of videos and info sheets are intended to support conversations with your coworkers. They were developed for those who work in tourism and hospitality, in partnership with go2HR.
What is a Crisis?
Life throws us curveballs and sometimes this can result in a personal crisis. A crisis is different from the everyday changes in our mental health. It halts or disrupts our ability to cope and affects how we work. When someone is in crisis, it’s serious and often unexpected. Regardless of the cause of the crisis, responding with empathy can make a big difference in helping someone regain a sense of safety and control. A caring and non-judgmental approach is key.
