Free or Low Cost Counselling
Counsellors can help support and guide you through challenges in your life, and build skills and strategies for improving your mental health. Access to counselling is generally through the private healthcare system, unless you are accessing a service through a hospital or mental health clinic.
If you are interested in receiving counselling, first check with your employer to see if you have access through your employer covered Employee and Family Assistance Programs or Extended Health Plans.
If not, you may be able to access a variety of mental health services, including low or no-cost community counselling programs, through the Community Counselling Grantee Network. You may also access low-cost counselling (based on income) and free online coaching, at Moving Forward Family Services. Please note, there may be waitlists to access counselling services.
If you are a registered post-secondary student Here2talk offers confidential, free counselling and referral services by app, phone or online chat. Here2Talk is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Speak to a counsellor on the phone at 1-877-857-3397
If you need to speak to someone now, see our Get Support page for more options.
