CMHA BC Understanding Addiction Course

Do you volunteer or work with people living with substance use or addiction? Learn essential skills to support yourself and others through the Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division’s (CMHA BC) Understanding Addiction course.

Understanding Addiction is a unique online training program for those who work directly or indirectly with people living with substance use or addiction. You’ll increase your professional knowledge and gain effective skills to help you better support and provide services to individuals living with addiction.

  • Learn practical skills for safe, supportive, and respectful communication
  • Build confidence in managing challenging situations
  • Support individual resilience, connection, and positive changes
  • Promote community health and inclusion

The course is delivered through eight interactive online lessons that can be completed at your convenience. Each 60 to 90-minute lesson features opportunities for personal reflection and downloadable resources. You can register and start any time!
